In keeping with its mission during the COVID-19 crisis, the Raglan Business Chamber (RBC) seeks to continue its support for vibrant, sustainable business in Whaingaroa-Raglan.
We are grateful to those essential services who have remained open and sustained our lives over the lockdown period. We encourage the community to continue to shop local as we begin to physically patronise the Raglan CBD in the coming weeks. For those who commute from Raglan, it is our hope that there is renewed interest in working remotely and that your daily commute will become less frequent.
The RBC Board recognises that many local businesses relating to tourism and hospitality are under extreme stress. We understand that most Raglan businesses have participated in the Government Wage Subsidy scheme for employees. However, going into Level 3 and 2, tough decisions will have to be made on whether some businesses will remain open. Statistics show that over the past twenty years Raglan’s economy has been boosted by Domestic over International travel. Traditionally, winter travel into Raglan is minimal. Therefore, while it seems far off, planning is under way by Waikato Regional Tourism Organisation to reinvigorate the domestic market. Labour Weekend in October will be a critical restarting point for Raglan.
If your brain is feeling the strain of too much leisure time, then this may be a good opportunity to enhance business skills. We invite you and your employees to take advantage of the online learning platform presented by Auckland Business Chamber currently available at no charge.
Please click here and use the code AKLCHAMBERAPRIL when signing up.
For those seeking employees or employment, please have a look at the Waikato NxtStep job matching website. This is a free job-matching platform where businesses can list vacancies and job seekers can register their skills and apply for jobs.
Te Waka and the Cambridge Chamber worked closely together to implement this website for the greater Waikato. Cambridge Chamber CEO, Kelly Bouzaid explains, “…Waikato Nxtstep’s sole focus is our local region, we hope it will help find quick solutions for our families, neighbours and friends, and help us all pull together to keep our community’s economy going.”
The Raglan Business Chamber values the strength of the Whaingaroa-Raglan community. We are aware of the greater good occuring behind the scenes during this unprecedented time. Thank you for your continued support and for doing all you can to shop local.
Stay strong. Stay well. stay home.
