Kia ora! The Whāingaroa Community Gardens are one of our special local spaces that we can all safely enjoy through Level 2. Tucked in behind the police station on Wi Neera Street, the gardens have exceptional views of Papahua and Karioi Te Maunga. A great place for kids and adults; it is always more special growing food together
The gardens are managed by a hard working group of volunteers with support from the Whāingaroa Environment Centre. In the garden we’re striving for a low input, high output food system that’s Papatūānuku friendly. It’s all about community while creating deep and lasting knowledge and connection.
Working bee’s will resume officially once New Zealand reaches a level 1 response to Covid 19. Until then, please feel free to do a little weeding and take home some fresh greens in return – just bring your own tools and gloves.
