Milestones 1st Quarter December 2021 – February 2022

Projects

  • 1 x Waitangi Day Event. Create the opportunity for Raglan to celebrate
  • Waitangi Day annually, starting with its own local history and learning about the founding bi-cultural relationship upon which Raglan is founded and what it looks like in the 21st century.
  • 1 x Community Dinner/Connecting Events.
  • Undertake a hapori survey with hapū and Māori to understand the demographics as a baseline to future RN Community Plan projects.
  • Undertake a community survey to identify organisations and projects that are aligned to the RN Community Plan and may accelerate the implementation of the RN Community Plan.
  • Work alongside community wellbeing groups and help them with funding applications to external funders.
  • RN website update and upgrade begins.

  • Ongoing support for CLD – responding to hapori/community requests and needs.
  • Regular updates and sharing information to hapori/community.
  • Actively broker connections for people who are isolated and lonely.

Projects

  • Plan and anchor Mātāriki to be celebrated annually in Raglan. Support schools, community groups, individuals, and Raglan Business Chamber to create and design events about Mātāriki.
  • 2 x Community Dinner/Connecting Events 2 x Treaty of Waitangi workshops:
  • Partnerships and Strengthening Relationships. Learn about local treaty issues and what they mean for hapū and the impact for the wider community.
  • Work alongside community wellbeing groups and help them with funding applications to external funders.
  • RN Website is established as a central hub for CLD/community projects/info.
  • Work with results of hapori/community surveys to prioritise their projects for resourcing and funding.
  • Build a directory of local health and wellbeing services, including support groups and organisation

Projects

  • 2 x Treaty of Waitangi elementary workshops. This is an introduction to te Tiriti o Waitangi. What is the Treaty of Waitangi, its history and its relevance in the 21st century?
  • Learn about a local Raglan case in the context of these workshops.
  • 1 x Community Dinner/Connecting Event. RN will support local hapū on 2 x hapū specific aspiration projects.
  • RN will work alongside hapū to achieve their aspirations. The intention of these projects is for hapū development. Hapu will determine projects that will create opportunities for better outcomes for hapū, by hapū.
  • RN will work alongside community wellbeing groups and help them with funding applications to external funders.

  • A hapori chapter for Raglan Naturally is implemented into the overall plan. The content of the chapter will show the aspirations of hapori and what they have identified as being meaningful for them in Whaingaroa. The hapori survey and hapori aspirational projects will feature in this chapter.
  • Begin planning for 2023 Mātāriki annual event with community led input about activities to celebrate the new year.
  • Begin planning 2023 Waitangi Day Events celebrating Raglan’s Treaty relationship and history. Plan 6 x Treaty of Waitangi workshops
  • Plan 6 x Community Dinner/Connecting Events
